Statistic's have shown that in the United states 25- to 34-year-olds living with their parents has been steadily on the rise since reaching its lowest point 45 years ago. Rampell, C. In "A Generation of Slackers? Not So Much States thus: "college graduates are steadily jumping into the job market, only to land on their parents couches". In Nigeria a similar trend exists though in many cases this might not be a cause of laziness or clinging on to ones comfort zone but as a result of a challenging Job market, struggling economy recently declared going into recession, thus unemployment rates rise, companies lay off workers, government restructuring and diversification, many house holds are quick to reduce spending habits all with the aim to cut costs because imports and devaluation can make the cost of living quite expensive while incomes remain the same.
Thus with such an economy, staying home in a rent free safe zone isn't such a bad idea, though society might belittle some adults as not living on the edge, following their passions and striving against all odds, well its a double edge situation that can either make or break a person, though we all got our strengths and weaknesses, a time of recession brings with it bitter and sweet opportunities depending on which side one finds him/herself in.
Millennials include adults born between 1980-2000. one time the most promising generation, now sadly regarded as the worst according to the words of Ben Shapiro. Claiming they're oblivious about topics such as politics, money, smoke alot or as author of “The Dumbest Generation” and Joel Stein “The Me, Me, Me Generation.” states; 'Millennials, the Facebook Generation or whatever you want to call today’s cohort of young people — has been accused of being the laziest generation ever. They feel entitled and are coddled, disrespectful, narcissistic and impatient.
Facebook generation in the sense that on the job they're found on social media and not properly striking the boundaries between work and fun. Perhaps this is based on perspective or again due to the generation gap existing and the advent of technological advancement. Yet I'll say on a perspective view; individually, Millennials have been seen worldwide to do great and strife for a better life as do we all who seek growth, development and a sustainable life. Joel Stein points again that; They are the most threatening and exciting generation since the baby boomers brought about social revolution, not because they’re trying to take over the Establishment but because they’re growing up without one.
I am of the opinion they're not a generation of slackers,But just being caught up in the midst of unfavourable policies of the ruling Elite.
Irrespective of the odds, Don't rule out on Millenials jus yet.
